Estadio Akron • FIFA World Cup 2026
The cultural heart of Mexico, offering an authentic, electric football atmosphere in a breathtaking architectural masterpiece.
Mi Macro Periférico (BRT system) connects to the stadium area. Rideshares (Uber/DiDi) are very affordable and widely used.
Top districts for fan zones and nightlife:
Keep valuables secure in crowded areas. Stick to recognized tourist districts and use verified rideshare apps.
★ Try the local "Torta Ahogada" before the match.
★ The stadium sits slightly outside the city center, factor in extra travel time during rush hours.
Guadalajara is the soul of Mexican culture—the home of Mariachi and Tequila. The matchday vibe here will be the most passionate of the four. Estadio Akron is a stunning, "volcano-shaped" stadium located in the affluent Zapopan district.
Zapopan / Puerta de Hierro. This is the luxury business district with high-end hotels like the Hyatt Regency.
Colonia Americana. Voted "Coolest Neighborhood in the World." Incredible bars, cafes, and architecture.
Historic Center (Centro). For the Cathedral and markets (Mercado Libertad).
Landmark/Andares. The most exclusive area with luxury shopping and dining.
Tlaquepaque. Charming, artistic, and more affordable, though a bit further from the stadium.
Plaza de la Liberación in Centro.
Avenida Chapultepec is the "main artery" for fans. It's lined with hundreds of bars and will be the epicenter of celebrations.
Take the Tejero Train or a day trip to the town of Tequila (1 hour away) on non-match days.
Official Airport Taxi (pre-paid inside the terminal) or Uber (pick-up is usually at a specific zone outside).
Take Line 1 to Periférico Sur, but you will still need a shuttle/taxi for the final "last mile". Use the "Sitren" bus system which has routes specifically serving the stadium area.
The traffic around the Periférico will be legendary. Plan to arrive way before kickoff.
Avoid driving; the stadium is at a major highway junction (Periférico) that becomes a parking lot on matchdays.
Altitude: Guadalajara is at 1,500m (5,000 ft). You will get dehydrated and feel the effects of alcohol faster than at sea level.
Stick to Zapopan and Americana at night. Avoid the far eastern side of the city (beyond the Calzada Independencia) unless you are with a local.
The "Tortas Ahogadas": You must eat a "drowned sandwich" (pork in spicy tomato sauce) before the game. It is the local football ritual.
