CupIntel combines local OpenFootball snapshots, deterministic normalization, and validation scripts to publish World Cup archive, records, squad, and team-history pages. This page explains what is measured, what is omitted, and where historical coverage can be limited.
Historical tournament data is based on local snapshots from the OpenFootball World Cup project, normalized into CupIntel canonical JSON before pages are generated. The OpenFootball data is published under CC0 terms; CupIntel adds routing, validation, derived tables, and presentation.
The site does not fetch football data at runtime. Archive pages, record pages, and reference pages read from local generated and canonical datasets.
Raw snapshots are converted into canonical tournaments, teams, group memberships, matches, scores, goals, stadiums, squads, and source references. Generated reference data is then built from those canonical files, not edited by hand.
Route manifests, sitemaps, and prerendered HTML are generated from the same selectors used by the app.
Team records are calculated from tournament-team fields such as appearances, wins, goals, and titles. Match records are calculated from final scorelines. Canceled and postponed matches are excluded from scoreline records.
Player records are intentionally not generated because historical player-match and scorer coverage is incomplete across early editions.
Historical goal-scorer events are partial or unavailable for some tournaments even when final scores are complete. Stadium records can be detailed for modern editions and limited for older editions.
Historical squads are not inferred. Squad routes are generated only where canonical squad lists are available, currently the 48 2026 team squads.
